Learn how to save a life
First aid is an important skill. By performing simple procedures and following certain guidelines, it may be possible to save lives by giving basic treatment until professional medical help arrives.
PORSE Early Childhood Training (NZ) Ltd now offers comprehensive First Aid Courses that are accredited by the NZ Qualifications Authority and offer Unit Standard-based learning. PORSE recognises the importance of being prepared for emergency situations, especially when caring for children.
The PORSE First Aid courses offer

Course Options
Comprehensive Course Covers Unit Standards 6400, 6401 and 6402 Duration: 16 hours
These courses use a pool of scenario-based activities to cover scene assessment, identification of hazards, medical conditions and how to manage a range of possible emergencies. With a focus on infant and child First Aid, it includes:
- Resuscitation
- Shock and bleeding
- Burns
- Fractures and soft tissue injuries
- Poisoning
- Chest pains
- Seizures
- Asthma
- Strokes
Refresher Course Covers Unit Standards 6401 and 6402 Duration: 4 - 8 hours
The Refresher Course provides an opportunity for all people trained in First Aid to update their knowledge with the latest protocols and procedures. To ensure their qualification remains current, the refresher course should be completed at least every two years.
