NatureLIVE... a childs world

Children learn about nature from adults and the environment they experience first hand.

Autumn's Potpourri, a child's world...

Society today provides our children with man-made play structures and groomed parks, but hiding within our cities and towns are rich environments we often take for granted.

We may think our children will have nothing to do in natural, open spaces without toys, climbing features, safety matting, park benches, drinking fountains or toilets.

By taking time exploring you will see many facilities are already there - smell the autumn air, play in the leaves, look at the sky and find yourself back in your own childhood memories - the ones we never forget.

Imagine the wonder when shuffling, crackling, crunching and scooping up autumn leaves with fresh faces, bare hands and booted feet.

Children are natural wonderers and we support them so they can explore in authentic exciting ways.

Germany last year introduced 300 Forest Kindergartens. In an age of concerns about obesity, poor concentration and aggressive behaviour, German parents are questioning computer screens and plastic toys in favour of outdoor education.

In New Zealand PORSE In-Home Childcare & Educator Training is working with families and educators to bring the outdoors to our under fives with regular nature and forest playschools that provide opportunities
for children to explore and discover nature.

Bush or forest areas are checked for health and safety beforehand and educators attend two evenings of professional development to understand their role in supporting and encouraging children to have fun discovering their world.

PORSE's Nature PlaySchool Programme is also motivating adults and supporting the next generation of young New Zealanders to live with nature.

Make autumn an exciting potpourri for your children this season!
