Taking Time with BabyCARES

Professional and Personal Development ...like you have never experienced!

PORSE In-Home Childcare & Educator Training has researched and created this exciting programme that can be attended as an educator professional development programme or as a parenting course.

BabyCARES aims to offer practical advice on caring for infants and young children and supporting you, the adults, to be confident about your techniques and strategies.

This course will allow you to see infants and young children with new eyes.

Course Contents

BabyCARES is based on early brain development and attachment theories. Early interactions have a decisive impact on the nature and extent of adult capacities. It is therefore important to have a well-informed and nurturing adult that can support the child’s emotional and developmental needs, through active involvement in the routines of young children.

Find out

  • What is attachment and why is it important for children’s brain development?
  • What is the impact of our values, beliefs and attitudes to the care of the young child?
  • What knowledge, skills and attitudes are learnt and how can we turn this understanding into practice?
  • What do we label as ‘appropriate’ and ‘inappropriate’ practice for respectful interactions with infants and young children and why?

The BabyCARES professional development programme explains practically the importance of respectful interactions and relationships and weaves the PORSE Values, Te Whaariki principles and early childhood theories, adapting them to the New Zealand sociocultural environment.
